Hello there!

One day, while sipping mimosas and being sad about our youngest babes going off to Kindergarten, we had a really great idea: what if we taught kids to cook? To say that idea took off is the understatement of the year! You can now find us all over the Milwaukee, Ozaukee, and Waukesha Counties teaching cooking classes for kids ages 2-13.

Why teach kids to cook?

Well to start, kids are people. And people eat throughout the day. Even from a young age, kids are capable of cooking and prepping foods at various levels.

We hear from families that many parents dread meal times, because of picky eating, the general workload of meal planning and cooking, and even the messes that kids make when they try to help.

We want to help make this part of our lives - because it’s a big part - more enjoyable for everyone.

How do we do this? We plan classes that inspire joy, delight the senses, and include recipes with lots of jobs for kids to do.

Sometimes kids just need to learn a couple new skills to help them be a better helper (or cleaner up-er) and it sounds better coming from someone other than their parents.

  • Cooking is a life skill and learning it from a young age will only benefit children as they grow up.

  • Cooking engages all five senses and creates many learning opportunties in fine motor development, turn taking, math, science and even chemistry!

  • Cooking inspires creativity and encouages imagination in people of all ages.

  • Cooking brings people together and creates spaces where friends and families can connect.

  • Cooking encourages kids to try new foods. You might be suprised by this one, but we absolutely swear by it!

Our main goal is for kids to have a positive experience in the kitchen. That’s what we’re all about. We’re committed to happier ktichens and we’re excited to have you be a part of it!

Meet our Team

Meet Lauren.

Lauren is a home cook, amateur gardener, and foodie! Cooking is a big part of her family, and she's been teaching her own children (ages 5 & 7) how to cook since they were toddlers. Lauren has a background in public health and marketing and runs the business stuff around here. She started More Happy Kitchens (the brand) a year ago as an avenue to inspire a love of cooking and growing food for people of all ages. And yes, she usually wears this headband!

Meet Sally.

Sally is a former elementary special education teacher turned SAHM to two girls, ages 5 and 9. While she’s always had a love for home cooking (Santa brought a pasta maker for Christmas at age 12!), her focus has turned to food allergy-friendly, mostly plant-based, kid-fun recipes since having her daughters. Favorites include colorful salads, any kind of pasta, peanut butter cups, and soft sugar cookies. Sally knows every local grocery store in the vicinity like the back of her hand and brings her teaching background to create thoughtful classes that help encourage independence and confidence for kids of all ages.
